HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 16

(By Delegates Thompson, Kiss, McGraw, Pulliam and Ryan)


Requesting the Department of Highways to pursue getting the Robert C. Byrd Drive extended to run through Main Street, Sophia, to the intersection of McAlpin Mountain Road Route, County Road No. 30, and continue through Stotesbury to the intersection of Tams Mountain Road, Route 16, to become a link in the Heritage Tour.

Whereas, Robert C. Byrd was a 1934 graduate of Mark Twain High School; and
Whereas, Mark Twain Alumni Association will have a ribbon cutting at their high school reunion on August 10, 1996; and
Whereas, A historical marker will be placed honoring Robert C. Byrd; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Division of Highways extend the Robert C. Byrd Drive to become a link in the Heritage Tour; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates be directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the Commissioner of the Division of Highways.
